Nature-Based Learning at Honeypot Montessori
At Honeypot Montessori, we believe that nature is a powerful teacher—especially for Black and Brown children who are often denied access to green spaces and the freedom to explore the natural world. Our nature-based learning experiences nurture curiosity, resilience, and a deep sense of belonging, fostering emotional well-being and cognitive growth. Research shows that time in nature reduces stress, enhances creativity, and supports healthy brain development. By integrating outdoor learning into our Montessori approach, we empower children to see themselves as part of the environment, strengthening their connection to the land and their role as future stewards of the Earth.
Upcoming Summer Programming
Jungle Jams is a seven-week music and movement-based nature education program for children ages 3-8. Piloted in partnership with Newark ArtStart this program will transform outdoor and indoor learning spaces into immersive experiences where children explore the natural world through rhythm, dance, and interactive storytelling.
